Can Positive Thinking Cure Disease?

Where The Secret gets a bit esoteric is in its attempt to explain why bad things happen to good people. This certainly isn’t a new question that can Positive Thinking cure disease. Countless philosophers and theologians have tried to understand the problem of evil for centuries – or at least as long as ethical monotheism has been around. To frame the question, how can evil exist in a world if there is an omnipotent, omnipresent God? Or, in the language of The Secret, if the universe is a large catalog and all you have to do is pick out what you want, why is it that some of us seem to choose bad things like cancer, rape, and natural disasters? Why is it that some of us never seem to lose weight, no matter how hard we try? Why can’t some of us get out of debt – or at least make enough to cover our monthly expenses?
The Secret claims it’s because we have all these negative beliefs that are poisoning our lives. As we focus on getting out of debt, we filter out all but “debt”. As we focus on curing ourselves from disease, we filter out all but “disease”. It’s these thoughts that are creating the problems in our lives.

Is The Secret Harmful?

Ever since Oprah started promoting The Secret, it seems everyone’s talking about the pros and cons. One question that keeps coming up is whether The Secret is harmful.
Though I’d agree that it’s somewhat deceptive or misleading in its attempts to claim science as its foundation, I don’t think it’s overtly harmful. Yes, the philosophy’s incomplete – and they haven’t spent much time hammering out the specifics – but if you simply take it for a “feel good” docu-drama, it’s not going to harm anyone. As long as you don’t think too deeply about the underlying principle of the law of attraction, the movie’s an inspirational piece to get you to sit up and take notice that you can control your thoughts and feelings.

The Secret

The Secret is the law of attraction!Everything that’s coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it’s attracted to you by virtue of the images you’re holding in your mind. It’s what you’re thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you.”

How Motivation Affects Learning and Behavior

When it comes to art, Anya is highly motivated. We can reasonably draw this conclusion based on her close attention in class, her eagerness to draw whenever she can, and her career goal. Motivation is something that energizes, directs, and sustains behavior; it gets students moving, points them in a particular direction, and keeps them going. We often see students’ motivation reflected in personal development and in cognitive, inspiration quotes, and behavioral engagement in school activities (Fredricks, Blumenfeld, & Paris, 2004; Maehr & Meyer, 2004; Reeve, 2006).
Virtually all students are motivated in one way or another. One student may be keenly interested in classroom subject matter and seek out challenging course work, participate actively in class discussions, and earn high marks on assigned projects. Another student may be more concerned with the social side of school, interacting with classmates frequently, attending extracurricular activities almost every day, and perhaps running for a student government office. Still another may be focused on athletics, excelling in physical education classes, playing or watching sports most afternoons and weekends, and faithfully following a physical fitness regimen. Yet another student—perhaps because of an undetected learning disability, a shy temperament, or a seemingly uncoordinated body—may be motivated to avoid academics, social situations, or athletic activities.
When Anya comes to school each day, she brings her strong interest in art with her. But motivation quotes is not necessarily something that learners bring to school; it can also arise from environmental conditions at school. When we talk about how the environment can enhance a learner’s motivation to learn particular things or behave in particular ways, we are talking about situated motivation (Paris & Turner, 1994; Rueda & Moll, 1994). In the pages to come, we’ll find that as teachers, we can do many things to motivate students to learn and behave in ways that promote their long-term success and productivity.

Regain Your Motivation

Do you feel your motivation has diminished recently? Or do you feel at the moment that it's gone completely? Do you wonder how you'll ever get it back?
It often happens that many people find their motivation decreasing or disappearing altogether. When this happens you tend to feel stuck and you're not really moving forward. You may feel frustrated because you're not making any progress. Seeing yourself making progress is one way to be motivated. But if that's not there, it becomes a vicious circle, because when you're not making progress, you don't feel motivated and vice versa.

When you want to increase your motivation, it's worth remembering that there's a difference between it and inspiration. Motivation quotes is an external source which encourages you and gives you ideas. Inspiration comes from within and the encouragement and ideas are your own. When it comes from within, you own it and will feel inspired. When you feel inspired you'll take action and taking action is the key to achieving what you want, whether it's increasing your business, making changes in your life or progressing towards your dreams.

So, we're really looking to increase your inspiration here and not necessarily just to motivate you. I've found that people's inspiration drops when they've been doing the same thing over and over again for some time. You may feel you're stuck in a rut; it's become a bit of a drag. If you're feeling this way, it's no wonder your inspiration has decided to 'wander off'.

Sometimes you just need to take a break or have a rest from what you're doing and your inspiration may well come back. This break also allows you to re-assess what you've been doing and not doing. Perhaps then you'll see there are some changes you want to make, perhaps deciding to implement a different strategy or action plan.

Taking a break will mean different things to different people and you need to determine for yourself what this break will be. Perhaps, you'll decide take a day or a week off work, to play and have fun. Or you may decide to go for a brisk walk. I'm even inclined to suggest to you that, while taking this break, you tell yourself that you're not allowed to do or think about anything related to work or whatever it is that you're taking a break from. It's surprising how much most of us react to being told we can't do or have something. The rebellious part of us often surfaces and wants to fight it.

Taking a break from whatever it is you've been doing will probably make you feel apprehensive. All your fears about how much you have to get done, you're wasting time, what if I don't want to go back to doing this, are likely to surface. It's a natural reaction, but the fear is usually much worse than the reality. You need to trust yourself, face up to the fears and know that you can handle any situation.

After a break, you'll feel refreshed and when you feel refreshed, your enthusiasm and inspiration will return. Then, you'll be ready to start moving forward again.

What I want for you is to take a break and allow your inspiration and desire for life and business to return to you naturally.

Quote Of The Day

Inspirational Quotes Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Mastermind Groups

“You are, or will become, the average of the five people you associate with the most.” - Brian Carruthers
For those of you who have read think and grow rich, I’m sure your familiar with the concept of the mastermind group. It is truly one of the most powerful tools!
A mastermind group enables you to meet with like minded individuals with similar goals, beliefs, and ambitions. The benefit is it allows each member to motivate the others to achieve their dreams and goals. It also provides a group environment to discuss challenging matters, potential opportunities, or provide support and guidance.
I attend a mastermind meeting of my own every Thursday and let me tell you that it is VERY productive. The group cumulatively came up with over 10 new business venture ideas which all appear to be extremely promising in the last meeting alone!
I urge to gather 3-5 others and meet on a weekly basis. This will not only motivate you but it will also hold you accountable to your goals. If we have individuals we must face and answer to it keeps us a lot more motivated and on track.
I guarantee it will improve the quality of your life! For more on mastermind groups be sure to read Think & Grow Rich!
Cheers

Gratitude – The Key To Success

Gratitude – The Key To Success

I just finished the new book “The Magic” written by Rhonda Byrne author of “The Secret”. I instantly feel in love with this book it instantly resonated with me on so many levels. Before I start with my daily post I need to make it clear that this is a must read for everyone!
One of my favorite quotes about gratitude from the book which applies to all facets of life is “Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him”. This quote is actually from the gospel of Matthew in the bible.
The importance of gratitude can’t be stressed enough it is fundamental to have an attitude of gratitude. When we are grateful for what we have, even if our circumstances are not ideal, we will attract more of what we want into our life. When we are not grateful for what we have even what we have will be taken from us.
For example if you dream of having a new Ferrari you must feel grateful for the current car you have before you can ever own a ferrari. If you don’t currently own a car you can be grateful for the public transit you take. If you do not have public transit to take then you can be grateful for the feet you have to walk on. If you do not have feet to walk on you can be grateful to be alive.
As you can see gratitude is directly related to the law of attraction. We must feel gratitude for what we have in order to attract what we want.
IN FACT one of the best ways to attract our desires is to FEEL GRATEFUL for our desire as if we are already in possession of it.
I’m sure by now it is evident to you how powerful of a tool gratitude truly is. If you aren’t very familiar with gratitude the book “The Magic” is a great place to start.
Have an amazing day and remember BE GRATEFUL!
Cheers,
Pat

Make MEDIATION a Daily Habit

Today I want to discuss the wonderful tool of mediation and why it should be incorporated into your daily routine. I personally start off my day with a 45 minute Yoga Nidra meditation as soon as I wake up (followed by my gratitude, affirmations, and visualization.
I find that when I meditate it totally clears my mind and allows me to approach the day with a fresh and present mindset. This is where all creativity, and greatness flows from out of a state of presence.
I have also noticed many other benefits such as an increase in focus, clarity of mind, and peace.
Many people in the Western world view meditation as an “eastern” practice and don’t give it the time of day. There are very good reasons why many cultures practice meditation on a daily basis.
Here are just a few of the many benefits of meditation:
  • It lowers oxygen consumption.
  • It increases blood flow and slows the heart rate.
  • Leads to a deeper level of physical relaxation.
  • Enhances the immune system.
  • Helps with weight loss
  • Builds self-confidence.
  • Increases serotonin level, influences mood and behaviour.
  • Resolve phobias & fears
  • Helps control own thoughts
  • Helps with focus & concentration
The list is endless there are literally hundreds if not thousands of benefits for meditation.
If you are just starting out I would suggest downloading a guided mediation such as brain sync which guides you through the steps. As you get more advanced with mediation you can attempt more advanced approaches.
If you have any questions feel free to drop a comment below! TAKE ACTION NOW INCORPORATE MEDITATION INTO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE TODAY!
Cheers,
